1. Adolescent and Family Services
Adolescent and Family Services at Sumter Behavioral Health Services works with families and young people, ages 6 to 21, who are coping with family conflict, school problems, substance use or legal issues.
Families receive support in enhancing communication, bolstering parenting skills, and fostering a healthy atmosphere for their children. It also offers services for substance use, life skills, and problem behaviors, as well as school- or legal-related problems.

4. Intensive Outpatient Program
An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) — a type of partial hospitalization which allows individuals to recover from substance use while living in the community at home and maintaining daily responsibilities, such as work or family, which at Sumter Behavioral Health Services.

5. Intervention Services

The Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program (ADSAP) is meant for individuals whose driver’s license is suspended due to a DUI or similar offense. It ensures that participants satisfy the prerequisites to have their license restored, and is designed to prevent future violations and accidents.
The Pre-Trial Intervention (PTI) program, in conjunction with the Third Circuit Solicitor’s Office, offers first-time, non-violent drug offenders an opportunity to avoid the court system and a criminal record. The Offender-Based Intervention (OBI) program, which is for people charged with substance-related offences (other than DUIs), is a six-month course of treatment.

8. Women’s Residential
Sumter Behavioral Health Services has a 13-bed residential program for women who are undergoing treatment for substance use disorders or are entering back to independent living after completing treatment.
The program provides intensive care (minimum 40 hours per week of treatment) in a supportive, home-like atmosphere.
The program helps women learn independent living skills and to work towards family reunification. On a typical day, activities include household cleaning, meditation, life skills classes and group therapy.
Women usually remain in the program for three to six months. Referrals come from local agencies, hospitals, and personal recommendations.
The program takes Medicaid and most insurance plans. The clinicians are all highly qualified, either with master’s degrees and certification in addiction counselling, or working toward certification.

Building a Stronger Community Through Prevention Education
Beyond direct treatment, SBHS actively works to prevent mental health and substance use challenges through community outreach and educational initiatives.
