​About ​Gandara Mental Health Center

​Gandara Mental Health Center was founded in 1977 to assure access to services, especially for the Hispanic community. 

Today, the centre helps almost 15,000 children, adults, and families annually. This centre offers bilingual behavioural health, substance use, and prevention services at 100 locations in Massachusetts.

Gándara’s mission is to advance the well-being of Hispanics, African Americans, and other diverse populations. 

The centre does this by proposing programs sensitive to the multicultural differences. 

They ensure a commitment to providing quality and effective services that demonstrate an outcome, satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness.

Mental Health Services Provided By ​GMHC

1. Youth, Young Adult & Family Service

​Gandara Mental Health Center provides bilingual services for youth and families. They offer therapy, support, and mentoring for kids and teens who are having a tough time emotionally.

  • They also have group homes and treatment programs for at-risk youth, including a special home for LGBTQ youth.
  • Their foster care program places kids in safe homes with support available 24/7.
  • Apart from that, Gándara provides enormous services for families whose kids are suffering from some mental challenge. Such support will help many kids stay away from hospitals and foster homes.

2. Substance Use & Recovery Service

​Gandara Mental Health Center supports those in need of substance use treatment, providing medical as well as emotional care.

  • Residential Recovery Homes: Long-term care for men, women, and young adults that addresses the needs of individuals experiencing substance use and mental health conditions. Women’s programs—located in Holyoke and Ludlow—are designated for pregnant and new moms.
  • Recovery Support Centers: Offer a variety of free support services, such as Peer Support Groups, Social events, Job Training, and creative and fun activities.
  • Recovery Coaching: Consumers are matched with peer recovery coaches with lived experiences who assist with their unique needs in recovery, helping form a plan and work toward goals.
  • The Champion Plan: In Brockton, people receive support for substance abuse issues from the initial stages of detox to outpatient care.

These services are available to support their movement through the various stages of their recovery process.

3. Intellectual & Developmental Disability Services

This centre provides services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those who might have addictions or mental health problems.

  • Shared Living Program: Allows adults with mild to moderate disabilities to live with a family or caregiver with Gándara’s support.
  • Long-Term Residential Program: Provides 24/7 care and medical support for individuals with more severe disabilities.
  • Community Clinical Services: Supports adults with mental health challenges in living successfully in their communities.
