About Alcott Center for Mental Health Services

outside Alcott

The Alcott Center, a non-profit organization, has been offering community mental health services since 1979.

It helps low and no-income adults throughout LA County by providing mental health and housing support.

The center is dedicated to breaking down barriers to mental health care and assisting those who cannot afford it.

Their mission is to improve the quality of life and empower people facing mental health and housing challenges as they move towards wellness.

They focus on making outpatient mental health care more accessible, supporting housing needs, and reducing the stigma around seeking mental health services.

Ultimately, they envision a world where stigma is gone, hope is abundant, and everyone has equal access to care and resources.

Services of Alcott Center

Here are the services Alcott Center offers:

1. Mental Health services

The Alcott Center offers comprehensive outpatient mental health services to underserved adults aged 18 and older who have Medi-Cal or no health benefits.

These services are usually free or very affordable, based on income. Depending on the need, services are provided both in the office and out in the community.

They offer full psychosocial assessments, individual therapy, group therapy, case management, psychiatry, and social activities.

The center also provides intensive, wraparound services through its Full-Service Partnership (FSP) for those referred to the program.

2. Supportive Housing

The Alcott Center for Mental Health Services understands the important connection between stable housing and mental health.

To address this, they have launched and continue to expand supportive housing projects, using trauma-informed property management to help community members stay in their homes.

They offer emergency, transitional, and permanent housing throughout Los Angeles for individuals facing mental health challenges.

Their permanent housing programs, aligned with Los Angeles County priorities, focus on at-risk adults aged 18 and older.

The center’s housing services include intensive case management, assistance with benefit applications, connections to medical and mental health care, substance use treatment, housing searches, and application processing. All these services are provided free of charge to participants.

3. Community Service

The Alcott Center is working with other groups on a ‘health neighborhood’ project to understand community needs, raise awareness, and improve health in the Pico-Robertson area.

This health neighborhood has formed strong partnerships with providers of mental health, physical health, substance use, homeless, and social services.

Even though it is still early in development, the project has already connected many individuals to essential services.

Key partners include Westside Family Health Center (WFHC), Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles (JFS), and People Assisting the Homeless (PATH), among others.

The project is also engaging faith-based organizations, local businesses, and other health service providers to gather and organize resource information and enrollment criteria.

It has received grant funding from the South Robertson Neighborhood Council and Cedars-Sinai and is seeking long-term funding.
