Mental Health Programs Provided By CMHC

1. Outpatient Treatment Services

Catawba Community Mental Health Center provides outpatient treatment for children, teenagers, adults, and families.

The organization provides individual therapy, family counseling, and services designed to help young children address their mental health issues.

Additionally, they provide counseling to individuals suffering from mental and substance abuse issues, medication management services, and rehabilitation support.

The team works with clients to create a treatment plan to meet their needs. They utilize the working therapies such as CBT, changing negative thoughts, DBT to improve emotional skills, and EMDR for trauma recovery.

The others are therapies like PCIT that helps to change family relationships, TF-CBT to deal with trauma, and Motivational Interviewing for assisting the people to change.

In addition, there is support for job training and peer support as well as family therapy in case the client requires it for enhancing communication and support.

2. Additional Support Services

Catawba Community Mental Health Center provides additional services to help you find the care and resources you need.

There are Entitlement Specialists that can help you obtain the benefits you are entitled to and ensure you receive what you qualify for.

Care Coordinators will work with you to connect you with other community services, such as medical, dental, and educational assistance, and then follow up to ensure that your needs continue to be met.

They also have Individual Placement and Support (IPS), which is a program that supports people with mental illness to find and maintain employment.

This program works with Vocational Rehab to enhance self-esteem, income, and quality of life.

Peer Support Specialists are here to support people in learning how to manage their illness and focus on recovery, build confidence, and learn new skills.

Catawba CMHC collaborates with North Central Medical in providing primary care services to its patients at their clinics.

This includes care for long-term health issues, ways to prevent illness, and health education from qualified medical staff.

3. Crisis Intervention

The center provides support to those people who experience acute mental health issues.

The crisis team conducts on-site rapid screenings of adults and children. This can be conducted in-person at the crisis site, or at the center; over the phone, or Telehealth.

The main goal is to de-escalate the situation and connect the individual and families with proper mental health care and other resources they require.

This crisis team operates 24/7 and works with local mental health centers, law enforcement, and other community partners to provide support and help in stabilizing the person experiencing a crisis.

It seeks to provide prompt access to needed care, halt the unnecessary hospitalizations and arrest of individuals, make safety plans, and provide follow-up mental health treatment.
